The First Time

You never forget your first time.

When my life changed dramatically more than 12 years ago with the discovery of my spiritual intuitive gifts, I knew I’d have a choice to make eventually: stay with my 27-year corporate career or pursue a calling as psychic life coach. That decision came about a year later when my last Fortune 500 gig ended, thrusting me into a new life chapter.

This past month I’ve had a number of psychic consultation clients who are revisiting their own career paths. “I know there’s something else that I’m supposed to do,” stated a successful sales rep from Florida last week over the phone. Similar comments were echoed by other men and women in Arizona, Georgia, New York and Iowa. Yes, Iowa!

When the nudge to change a life course is persistent, people tend to wise up. They collect their thoughts. They explore options. They seek guidance. And, ultimately, they make choices that will move themselves forward, often involving new scenery and, certainly, new opportunities for growth.

Eventually, there comes the “first time.” The first time one embraces a new career or other life choice. It’s a big step, but that initial movement will send a person well on his or her way.

Which brings me to my “first time.” I took nearly a year off after my last corporate job before I launched my psychic consultation business, as I felt I wanted to define my approach to the work and build my confidence.

My first client was a middle-aged male, whose marriage engagement had just ended abruptly. While I don’t recall everything I share with clients, I do remember one specific aspect of this debut consultation. “I’m sensing that there is healing regarding the breakup that is coming. I feel like you will go to a spiritual retreat soon, but I can’t tell if you’ll go on your birthday or New Year’s Eve,” I offered.

“Yes! I recently made reservations to go to Esalen in Big Sur,” he confirmed, referring to the well-known life-empowerment establishment on the California coast. Then, came his extra validation: “And, the reason why you can’t tell if I’m going on my birthday or New Year’s Eve is because my birthday is on New Year’s Eve!”

And, that’s why I’ll never forget my first time.

Love and light,

Tony

New opportunities will ultimately lead to a “first time.”
